Building Demolition is considered the complete removal of a structure including its slab and foundation. We demolish wood framed buildings, steel framed buildings, concrete buildings and block buildings.  DSI uses heavy equipment to perform this work.  Some of the equipment we use are Excavators, Track Loaders, Mini Excavators, and Skid Steers.

Buildings are demolished by starting top down, wrecking the structure in small manageable pieces.  As the material builds on the ground it is processed with the equipment’s’ tracks and attachments to grind it into small pieces to assist in the full loading of our dump trucks.  Making the pieces as small as possible ensures the most material loaded out per truck, saving in trucking costs.

As the equipment tears down the building, material is separated when possible so that it can be easily recycled.  For example, metals and concrete will always be separated when we demolish a building.

All of the material generated is taken to a recycling or transfer facility that will further separate materials so that it can be recycled as much as possible.  We use water spraying during the demolition process to minimize dust.  We would either use a water truck, water trailer or connect directly to a high-pressure water source and use wash down hoses spraying the dust to control it.  The material will be hauled off site to the facilities using 10, 12 and 18 wheeled dump trucks.
